The Lion Group, a Malaysia-based well-diversified group, has grown rapidly as a multinational in the last 10 years. Developing from Zhejiang Zhedong Brewery Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Kaikai Group is a large state-owned enterprise engaged in the production of beer. Its group headquarters and affiliated enterprises are distributed across the province including Ningbo, Hangzhou, Zhoushan, Shaoxing, Taizhou as well as other places in the country, such as Shanghai, Yunnan Province and Hainan Province. The group set up three beer production bases in Ningbo, Zhoushan and Kunming with a yearly production volume of about 200 thousand tons in 1998. Ningbo Lion Brewery Co., Ltd, one of the three largest beer producers in Zhejiang Province, is jointly established by the Lion Group in Malaysia and Zhedong Brewery Co., Ltd, Which is affiliated to Zhejiang Kaikai Group. Meanwhile, Ningbo Golden Lion Beer Co. Ltd. is the largest in the production capacity, best in economic performance, most advanced in equipment and highest in modernization among its field in Ningbo. Supported by Ningbo Lion Brewery Co., Ltd. in the technical and equipment advantages, the group took effective measures to perfect its structure, including annexing Kunming Brewery, holding the shares of three breweries on Zhoushan Island. Meanwhile, it leased out and contracted with beer enterprises in Yuyao and Zhoushan, realizing its target of expanding its capacity in low cost and high efficiency. At present, the products have been granted as a famous brand in the country. In addition, the group involves many fields, such as pure water, plastic products, information service, automobile transportation and trade.
